Kids Holiday Club

From Tuesday the 31st July to Friday 3rd August we will be running the J1 Activity Days Holiday Club. This club will provide many activities including games, songs, quizzes, films, craft, races, prizes and more.  It will run each day from 10am to 3pm and is for children aged 4-13 (4 year olds must already have started school). The cost is £1 per day and this includes lunch.

If you want to book a place at the club then registration is essential.  To get a registration form either phone us on 0121 523 5629, or visit the church on Monday 30th July between 12-2pm and fill it in while you’re there.  Pre-booked places will only be held until 10.10 am on each day. After this they may be allocated to other children.

Pastors renew their vows

With their 30th wedding anniversary approaching, Pastor John was trying to think of something special for the celebration.  He hit on the idea of a service to renew their marriage vows staged in a similar way to the wedding.  He invited the same minister who originally married them to come to the church to officiate at the ceremony.  Their youth pastor and one of the original bridesmaids also came to the service.  It was a moving ceremony in which the two pastors read tributes to each other.  We were reminded of the importance of a strong marriage as John and Angela celebrated their anniversary together with us. After the ceremony everyone stayed for a buffet meal.

Darts and Skittles Night

This is one of those posts that should have been written months ago, but that was before we had a website.  The evening was planned for anyone to come and have a bit of fun and get to know each other better.

As usual there was a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and people were free to join in or just watch if they preferred.  However, no one was in a mood for just spectating and everyone got involved with both activities.  Free refreshments were available for those waiting to take their turn. The winning team and best individual performances were rewarded with prizes.

Children’s Carol Service

I know that July is a strange time to be writing about a carol service but this website didn’t exist last December so now is as good a time as any.  You may have noticed the photos on the special events page and come looking for information so here it is.

In 2006 the children’s carol service was based round the nativity story but it combined a mixture of original and traditional features.  It wouldn’t have been a carol service without some carols, so of course we had a good sprinkling of those.  Pastor Angela wrote a number of  songs for the performance which were based on well known tunes. For example, the audience laughed out loud as the shepherds cried (with ‘water pistol’ tears) and sang “My Sheep’s Gone A Missing” to the tune of “There’s A Hole In My Pocket”.
